Bed Rebuild and Expansion
A few weeks ago, I posted about plans for the garden including bed rebuilds and re-orientation.
Here is a quick recap, condensing about 3 hours of work into less than a minute.
It may seem odd, but spring really hasn’t sprung yet, but I’m looking forward to fall when can put the cold frames to use. Oh, I suppose I could knock them out now, but I’ve got enough to do for the moment.
And I have to say, I’m pretty sore from all the work. Being a desk jockey isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
I hope you all had a good weekend!

Very neat beds, David – and strong too I imagine, with those double angle-brackets at the corners. Mine only have a single bracket. Is the timber treated with anything to preserve it?

Untreated lumber Mark. It’ll rot in 3-5 years. The cedar was cost prohibitive.

The new beds and your garden are really lookin’ good, David. Loved the comment about never having enough buckets. Timely. Just this afternoon I was just wondering how I’ll mix my soil this year. I’ve got time to figure something out but surely buckets will be involved. 🙂

John, to mix I use a tarp. Put material on tarp and lifting one side tumble it together. Work your way around the tarp for even mixing.

There must be something in the gardener dna that makes them want to expand their gardening. More new beds all around. Maybe we just want more home grown food.
