A very informative tour David. And now as well as knowing what you look like, I also know the sound of your voice! I’m not personally convinced of the merits of the video clip for this sort of thing – I prefer the “old-fashioned” still photos – but that’s just me. I’m very impressed with the state of your Alliums. How do you get them to stand up so straight? Mine always flop over.

Mark, you’re the second person to mention the upstanding alliums. I don’t do anything “special” as far as I know. This is how they grow here. As far as video goes, I appreciate your perspective. I’m just learning the technique and hope to take lessons learned to provide “more how to” content at a good quality.

Thanks Taylor, I am about 35 miles west of Chicago in a 70 year old neighborhood. It is quite developed, but I am doing my best in a small suburban yard. Tomatoes and peppers do well here as it gets very warm.

Wow!! Two thumbs up on your video, I really enjoyed it and hope you do more of them. It’s great to see your garden this way, it felt like I was right there walking around with you. You also have a very natural presence on video and that’s certainly a gift! I wish I had such an extensive garden and your plants are far beyond anything growing here at this time of year!

Well, the sound on my computer is broken but I got out the tablet that I HATE trying to use and it took me forever to get the url right but I finally got to watch it. I think you did a great job! It was very professional sounding AND looking. I am so jealous of your garden and how few weeds you have. I, too, noticed the alliums standing upright when mine are on the ground. I think the rain and wind that accompanies the rain here just beats ours down–they still taste good though 🙂

I really appreciate you making the effort to watch! It’s only my first video on a new camera, so I’m still getting to know the tools and the filming itself doesn’t come naturally. But it is a start.

Loved it, David! Your garden is shaping up nicely. I too have floppy onions. I think worse this year than previous years, and I’m not liking that they will have to be pulled before they mature. I’m thinking the wind we had this spring may have had a hand in it.

Thanks Granny! My garden is very protected from wind as the yard is fenced. Never had floppy onions. Of course they don’t get very big, but they don’t flop over either.

Great video, Dave. I’m amazed at how much growth your garden is showing. You’re weeks ahead of those around here. I bought those self-watering containers for this year’s tomatoes and, right now, the plants are in danger of drowning. I filled them all before leaving for Michigan and then the rains came. A couple sunny days will work wonders, I’m sure — or I hope!

Hi John, and welcome back from your travels! Did you get the same kind of self watering or a different brand? Keep an eye on them once the plants get big and when (if?) the weather heats up. They will suck the reservoir dry in a day!
